Starbucks Holiday Drinks Review

Starbucks is known for the famous frappe and other frothy iced beverages but now, with the holiday season beginning, they have introduced three of their new holiday flavors on their menu.

These are a part of the launch for their temporary promotion of buying one holiday drink and receiving another free, kicking it off with the Peppermint Mocha, Caramel Brulee Latte and Chestnut Praline Latte.

The Peppermint Mocha was definitely the drink they mainly advertised for this promotion and as such it is a regular mocha drink infused with a few pumps of the very sweet peppermint flavoring.

When they named it the “Peppermint Mocha,” Starbucks was not kidding. You have to be a true peppermint enthusiast to enjoy this beverage. After a few sips, the peppermint syrup really starts to be too much to handle. Imagine if someone just melted 30 of those little mints you get at a restaurant after you are done after dinner. It is like that, but disgustingly sweet.

Now, the Caramel Brulee Latte is more memorable and of a higher quality. Introducing caramel into a latte really is not something new but is good all the same. Perhaps it is the fact that this is not made with just a cheap syrup, rather it is an actual blend. It is pretty normal to be honest; it is just the stuff they put on top of it that makes it special. The addition of the add-ins like shredded caramel bits on top of a layer of whipped cream is a nice touch though.

While not exactly super revolutionary, it is still a good choice of beverage. This one stands out the most of the three options.

Finally, the Chestnut Praline Latte was a warm, slightly bitter blend. The praline crumbs on top of the whipped cream was again a nice touch and brought a little more flavor, leaving you with the prominent bittersweet feeling.

We need to remember that it is supposed to be coffee though. Sometimes it feels like more chestnut after taste than an actual coffee blend.

Starbucks is creating a great holiday experience with these beverages. Any three of the new options are a great way to celebrate the holiday seasons.
