Newspaper earns state recognition

The Viking Vanguard staff was recognized by the Washington Journalism Education Association at the state conference March 15 at Shorewood High School.

The Vanguard earned the 2014 Award of Excellence.

The Viking Vanguard received an award of excellence in the best of show category at the WJEA state convention March 15 at Shorewood High School.

Also earning honors at write-off competition are the following student journalists:

Kameran Miller, honorable mention, review writing

Emily Baker, honorable mention, feature writing

Savannah Jarrett, excellent, editorial cartooning

Bailey Plumb, excellent, sports photography
