This year has been a momentous year for the gaming community and it is not over yet. With the release of consoles such as the Nintendo Switch and the XBox One S, new games are bountiful and exciting.
Astounding successes like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild keeps those of the gaming community hungry for more and anticipation on the rise with no sign of slowing down.
Senior Caleb Ernst is an avid gamer. He prefers using a personal computer as his gaming medium. He is excited about some games that have yet be to be or have been recently released.
“Destiny 2 looks awesome…and Mario Odyssey is the best mario game yet,” he said.
Super Mario Odyssey is a future addition to the Super Mario Franchise, set to release in October 2017 and Destiny 2 is an online multiplayer game, released Sept. 5. Both seemed to cause widespread excitement around the gaming community.
Jordan Cockle, the instructor for Advanced Placement Senior Literature and Avid is also stoked for the rest of this year’s games.
“Destiny looks really awesome, the new Call of Duty…Breath of the Wild looks super awesome,” Cockle said. “I would call myself an avid gamer, by my own standards… I am a big fan of retro nintendo consoles, like the Gameboy Advance.”
Mario, a loveable character known to every age regardless of whether they consider themselves gamers. The loyal enthusiasts of the old Nintendo systems and the more recent fans can all agree that the Mario franchise has been a permanent fixture, and this game is merging an illustrious, timely classic with something completely new.
“It is reminiscent of the original Mario 64, the best Mario ‘open world…It’s going to be an exciting addition to the Super Mario franchise,” Cockle said.
The year is coming to a close but even so, the gaming fanbase has plenty of things to look forward to, regardless of the systems or consoles that they use.
