The movie that has been waited so long for, Black Panther, was finally released Feb. 16. This Marvel film had very high expectations and did not disappoint.
The movie is about Prince T’Challa and how he was forced to become king and guardian of the village, Wakanda after the death of his father. When he is put on the throne and learns the secrets that his father left behind.
The movie brought everything you love about comic book movies and added some. The movie had amazing scenery with the trees and the landscape in the African country of Wakanda and the actors who played major roles such as the Black Panther, Killmonger, Nakia, Okoye and many more were mostly well-known and proved why they are big names in Hollywood.
The only part of the movie that was kind of corny was the comedy. As most know, Marvel movies love to include some humor but I just felt some of the jokes were too overdone and were not the best for my taste in humor. The movie still had its funny parts but I do not think some of them were necessary in the film.
The movie was great overall and ranks third in my all-time favorite comic book movies alongside Avengers and Captain America Winter Soldier. The Black Panther was incredible for many reasons, one being that I really enjoyed the villain Killmonger, because he had the evil and arrogant emotion of a villain. The actor, Michael B Jordan, did a great job selling his role as the antagonist and fit the role well.
Another reason why I enjoyed the movie was the director, Ryan Coogler, because he knew what he was doing. Even though it was a movie, he kept it very close to the comic books. Coogler was given a budget of more than $200 million for this film. This would make it the biggest budget given to an African-American director. The movie did unbelievably well, making over $500 million in one week.
The movie was well-anticipated and turned out to be one of the best Marvel movies, I loved it and would recommend it to anyone who likes action or superhero movies.
