Rebel Story Revealed

Rebel+Story+Revealed

“I am one with the force and the force is with me.”

This is what every Star Wars fan was thinking after they came out from the theater where they saw “Rogue One,” a spin-off of the popular series.

This story takes place between Episode III (“Revenge of the Sith”) and Episode IV (“A New Hope”). It shows the story of the Rebel Alliance and the people who stole the Death Star’s plans. The Rebel Alliance sends Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) to find Galen Erso (Mads Mikkelsen), her father, in order to get the Death Star’s plans. He is the designer of this new super weapon that could destroy entire planets. Rebel captain Cassian Endor (Diego Luna), K2SO (a restored Empire droid) and more rebels they find on their way become her partners in this difficult task. The ultimate goal is to get the plans to Princess Leia, head of the Rebellion. Of course, since this story is parallel to the main series and it is not focused on the characters we all know, we do not see many familiar faces even though a couple of them make a spontaneous appearance.

I really enjoyed this movie because it shows the other side of the Rebellion, not only the heroic Luke Skywalker or the lovely Leia Organa. We get to see the simplest people who can make the biggest difference in the course of the war and how their sacrifice can make the tables turn.

Taking into account that this is movie from the Star Wars series, I have noticed that the story and the screenplay are darker than the other ones and you can see more in depth the struggles of the Rebellion, which I really enjoyed. I think this way of changing the point of view definitely gives the story a whole new perspective. The fact that we also get a strong, female main character makes this movie even better. In Star Wars, we always have a girl who is not afraid to lead and stand up for what she believes and I could not be more proud of belonging to this fandom.

I do not desire to spoil the end to anyone but if you are as big of a Star Wars fan as me and you recall past movies, you already know the end of our Rogue One battalion. However, it does not make it any less heartbreaking and emotional. Every rebellion requires sacrifices and it is built on hope.
