Sports Highlights of 1994

 Sports at Puyallup have stayed similar in the last 25 years.  

The Vikings football team would be at Carl Sparks Stadium on a Friday night with the town in the stands watching 

The 1994 football team were co-champions of the SPSL and had an 8-2 record with their only losses coming from Lakes and Auburn High SchoolThe team scored most of their touchdowns with the run game scoring 25 rushing touchdowns but also having 17 passing touchdowns. Senior Chuck Bowers led the team in tackles with 111. Chris Merrival, senior running back, ran for 534 yards on 89 rushes with three touchdowns 

 Boys basketball played in the newly built Paul B. Hanawalt Pavilion. They finished third in the SPSL South division and were led by senior Jim Stroud who averaged 14.3 points a game contributing to the Viks overall 66.3 points a game.  

Stroud also finished the season tied for Sixth all time in 3-point field goal percentage at 40.5, Seventeenth most 3 pointers made in a season at 30. Stroud finished his career as the 25th highest career scorer on the Puyallup program.  

Marcus Yoeder also finished his senior season with some records, he finished the 93-94 season with 117 assists and finished 9th on the single season leaderboard as well as finishing fourth in the all-time career assists rankings with 273.  

The Vikings finished the season 8-2 with losses coming from Auburn and Lakes.
