This year’s fall fashion is in full effect and you need to know about it. From mustard yellow sweaters to “millennial pink” shoes, according to Cosmopolitan magazine, current fashion trends are getting tons of attention.
Most of our generation is wearing clothes that fit their own aesthetic and people are loving it. Some people are even starting to pull out their parents’ old sweaters or going to thrift stores and getting ones similar.
And with that, prior fashion is coming back into style. With people wearing scrunchies in their hair and bringing back flannels and Birkenstocks, the ‘70s to late ‘90s style is definitely going back on trend.
A skateboard magazine,Thrasher, founded in 1981, is becoming relevant to everyone, not just skaters. The brand is starting to produce tons of new clothes and has recently partnered with another skateboarding company, Vans. Most people consuming these products are not people who skate but people who are buying these things for the fashion aspect. The black and white old-skool slip-on shoe is currently a very popular feature in outfits lately.
Mom jeans. Whether you are taking jeans out of your mom’s closet, buying them at TopShop or just getting them at thrift stores, mom jeans are once again on-trend. With people pairing them with bomber jackets, or pairing them with more denim for a ‘denim on denim’ look, the pants are definitely a statement piece.
Some of the ‘70s pieces being worn currently include fur, fringe and leather. Bringing these things back into style is causing people to ask grandparents for some of their older things or just spending their own money on these pieces at Nordstrom and Pac Sun. Another late ‘70s aspect of fashion was wearing mismatched patterns, which are also now coming back into style for the younger generation. NYFW had an abundance of people wearing different patterns this year on the runway and people were loving it. The mid to early ‘70s was the end of the ‘hippie movement’ and brought with it its floral patterned dresses, skirts and blouses. Off-the-shoulder shirts also became relevant in the mid-to-late end of the era and political tee shirts were worn throughout the 60s and the 70s and are still worn today.
With futuristic clothing also coming into play, like holographic clothes, glitter pieces and accessories, people are left to wonder what the clothes of the future will really end up looking like. Some people are even hypnotized by the shininess of the holographic material and are becoming obsessed with it.
Patches have been on trend since the late ‘60s. Whether you are stating something you believe in with the patch or you are just getting the patches to decorate your jean jackets and backpacks, patches are not set to go out of style anytime soon.
Distressed denim and distressed black denim jeans are also super on-trend. With people pairing them with beanies and sweaters or Thrasher hoodies and Vans, people are starting to make amazing outfits out of these pieces.
Whether you are wearing current fall fashion or you are wearing pieces from the ‘60s and ‘70s, you are wearing what fits your aesthetic and what you want to wear. At the end of the day, it does not matter what people think of your outfit, it is what you think of it.
