With fastpitch season starting, head coach Alec Elliot shares some information about the sport and what to expect this season.
What makes this season different than others?
“We’re very young, we’re probably half freshman and half upper classmen,” Elliot said.
What made you decide to be the coach?
“I helped out for 3 or 4 years before the coach retired, as a baseball person the convenience of early practice appealing,” Elliot said.
What makes fastpitch different than baseball?
“Everything is quicker, it’s a smaller field, its condensed. Pitching wise, the ball moves up rather than just left, right and down, I think everything happens a little bit quicker softball field,” Elliot said.
What are some star players your excited to watch this season and why?
“Returners, Kayla [Ringenbach] is an all-league player, Mackenzie Hardesty is an all-league player so they’re kind of exciting to watch and then we have a couple young freshmen that have earned themselves some starting roles right away. Jaycee Kemp, Bailey Martin and Shelby Thompson all earned starting spots as freshmen,” Elliot said.
Their next two matches are March 19th vs. Curtis, and March 20th vs. at Fife.
