As a kid everyone has had different experiences with different snacks. Whether you always had Goldfish in elementary school or you always ate chips at home. My favorite snack has come to be Takis.
I still remember, my first time trying them. I was like 8-years-old and my mom had her boyfriend and his son over. This was a normal thing at the time. Every day his son Austin would bring Takis and usually I was a picky eater but I wanted to try one.
As I tasted it I remember tasting the same tingle on my tongue I get anytime I eat one to this day.
It slowly became a regular thing; every time we got snacks, Takis. Any time we went on a picnic, Takis. Every single time my mom asked it was always Takis. I ate no other chips but Takis. My little brother slowly got into eating them, too, but to be different then me he would get the blue ones and it kind of “our thing” my mom has told me how funny she thinks it is. At this time Takis was also releasing a bunch of new flavors and we got my mom int trying them and sometimes my mom will try newer flavor with us.

Even though I’ve been eating Takis for almost seven years now it is still normal to me. I have Takis in my lunch box and I will still buy them as a snack with my friends. My mom always makes sure she packs and helps with my lunches and keeps us restocked. It is crazy how easily one decision with food can change your entire perspective, good or bad. So take it in, try new food, learn what you like. You might find something you never knew you’d enjoy so much.
